Walnut Shell Blasting

Ground walnuts shells are a type of abrasive blast media used for cleaning. Typical substrates are metals, fiberglass, woods, plastics and stone. The walnut shells are ground to various sizes from coarse to extra fine depending on the application. The walnut shells are used in the same manner as typical blast media. Walnut shells are durable and can be re-used in many applications. Walnut shells can remove matter from surfaces without scratching or pitting underlying material.

Walnut shell is biodegradable, non-toxic, environmentally safe and cost effective for blasting. Walnut shell does not cause silicosis.

Using Garnet for Preservation and Restoration Projects

When used at a low pressure garnet can be used successfully for many types of preservation work.  It was used recently at the Eiffel Tower in Paris to remove a layer of wax from the granite base.  When using garnet at a low pressure,  almost no dust gets generated because of its density.  At the Eiffel tower, they “dry-blasted” while using only simple containment measures, and did not have to close down any of the sidewalks or other pedestrian routes.

Garnet can also be used on very delicate substrates, and is widely used in Europe for wood restoration.  At a low pressure, garnet bounces off the surface vs. cutting into it.  This bouncing action removes dirt, crusts, and other contaminants, but will not harm the wood itself.

Soda Blasting

Soda blasting is ideal for stripping all varieties of delicate surfaces, it eliminates the need of using toxic cleaning and stripping chemicals, sanding, dipping and abrasive blasting. Strip multilayered surfaces to any level desired. The sodablaster will not warp delicate surfaces or damage glass, chrome, aluminum, fiberglass or rubber. Uses environmentally safe, non-destructive baking soda. Many cleaning operations can be accomplished while machines and processes are up and running. User Friendly! Both for the operator and the environment as it is non toxic.

Sand Blasting

Sandblasting is an effective cleaning process for hard surfaces with the use of high pressure air. The sandblasting method can be used for smoothing, shaping and cleaning hard surfaces, debarring, blending and stress relieving of any part that is hard. This process also removes slag, rust, and imperfections in steel as a preparation for various coatings. The effect of sandblasting is similar to that of using sandpaper, but provides a more even finish.

The sandblasting process can be used effectively on steel, iron, copper, brass, aluminum and glass. Sandblasting can be used to clean up fabricated parts, structural steel, castings, pipes (inside and out) pipe fittings, auto body parts and machine parts. This process can also be used on new materials to remove rust, paints, stains and glues. Sand blasting works for automotive restoration. It helps avoid a lot of hard labor, especially when working with deeply convoluted surfaces like a rusty wheel rim.
